Mrs Sophie and your wonderful team, we can't thank you enough for your dedication and patience in helping build Ivy's confidence over the last few months. It has meant so much to our family. The nursery is a truly wonderful setting and we are so sad that she has had to leave. A special thank you to her key person Miss Maddie for building such a lovely bond with her. Ivy always speaks fondly about how she takes such good care of her. ~ Olivia - June 2025

Dottie Tots in Crondall

We are an established nursery school located in the beautiful village of Crondall, surrounded by open fields, ancient woodlands & incredible wildlife. Dottie Tots Crondall's overarching principles focus on the natural environment, nature & sustainability.

We have sole use of approximately 2.3 acres of woodland. Which supports our classrooms in being connected directly to the stunning outdoor environments enabling continuous free flow provision. Classroom interiors are laid out to create snug home-from-home environments.  All areas provide opportunities for each child to develop as a unique individual.

Our carbon footprint is extremely important to us, we discourage single use plastic, create a high proportion of our own resources from recycled & repurposed materials to inspire wonder amongst our children & parents!  All our learning resources are authentic, traditional and natural keeping a calm and welcoming environment for all children and their families.

The philosophy of all our settings is to provide child-centred education with a heuristic approach to learning & development, led by a team of fully qualified teachers. Here at Crondall we offer children endless learning opportunities which are complemented by the range of education styles we use such as Montessori, Forest School Approach, Reggio Emilia and the Curiosity and the Froebelian Approaches. They all work beautifully together as they are all holistic and child centred, which works well with the ethos of Dottie Tots.

We encourage children to navigate an environment where they have choices, they have time to explore their play and they spend as much time outside as possible. Children learn best when encapsulated in the great outdoors with equipment and activities where they can explore, seek delight, role play, move freely, sit in a den, and take risks (fully risk assessed of course!). Children need natural objects and everyday items to learn about their world and dedicated, well qualified educators who can support, enhance and navigate their development with them.

We aim to nurture the uniqueness of each child, meet individual needs through a relaxed learning atmosphere where children feel safe and secure. Through play & exploration we encourage confidence, self-motivation, autonomy.

At Crondall, there is the opportunity to utilise full 15 or 30 hour funding entitlement for 2, 3 & 4 year olds. We are open term-time Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Wish to know more, pop-in to see for yourself, or register your child for a place? We would be delighted to meet you and your family.

A few amazing words from some of our current parents & guardians at Crondall :

“We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Crondall Dottie Tots. From the moment our child started, we’ve seen them grow in confidence, curiosity, and happiness. The staff are absolutely wonderful - caring, attentive, and genuinely passionate about supporting each child’s unique development. What really stands out is the variety of resources and activities used to encourage learning, exploration, and creativity. Every day brings something new, and it’s clear how thoughtfully everything is planned to nurture both skills and imagination. Our child is thriving in this environment, and as parents, there’s no better feeling than knowing your little one is supported and excited to learn. We’re so grateful to have found such a nurturing and inspiring place for our child to begin their educational journey”

Megan - May 2025

I couldn’t have picked a better place for my daughter to begin her educational journey. Dottie Tots go above and beyond every single day, continuously offering new opportunities and experiences for the children. Since joining the nursery my daughter has thrived, and we’ve seen such an amazing growth in her. Her daughter loves her key person and adores the Forest School sessions. We absolutely love Dottie’s Crondall and always recommend the setting to friends and family.

Ross - May 2025

We feel incredibly lucky to have found Dottie Tot’s! From day one we were bowled over by the incredible staff who have consistently been a great source of support and advice. Our daughter can be shy but has managed to nurture friendships with the help of her key worker Mrs Sophie and we can really see her confidence growing and growing. Dottie’s really master being able to learn through fun and exploration and I am always impressed to see what they have achieved in a day! Having clear routines and scheduled activities like forest school, yoga or phonics with the other pre-schoolers has also helped prepare my daughter for school, and it’s a huge relief to know Dottie’s have that transition in hand. We cannot fault our experience with Dottie’s and will miss them in September!

Susanna – May 2025

The staff at Dottie Tots are amazing, we are so happy with the setting! Our son loves attending the nursery.

Wendy – April 2025

The management and leadership are great – always super helpful and quick to respond. I can’t thank the team enough for all the support they have given my daughter. The staff are incredibly nurturing, making every child feel supported. The development reports and observations are especially appreciated and help us keep connected to my daughters learning.

Elizabeth – April 2025

Our son has made so much progress since joining Dottie Tots and we feel that this is communicated to us in great detail. We feel that he has settled brilliantly, and he is really happy at the nursery. We absolutely love the learning environment and the opportunities to learn and play each day. We feel the level of communication is excellent and we feel very informed and that we are working in partnership with the team.

Tamryn – April 2025

We are very happy with Dottie Tots, our son joined last September, and he has made such amazing progress. The staff are incredibly supportive and friendly. Our son loves the forest school learning and how much time they spend outdoors. We also enjoy the parent event day when families are welcomed into the nursery.

Flo – April 2025

I was a little nervous make my daughter started nursery as she was so attached to me and was quiet a shy little girl. During the settling in process, I felt that the staff were amazingly supportive in getting to know my family and daughter, and taking it step by step to support her in settling in fully at nursery. I feel that the attention and care the children at the setting receives is amazing, and this really shines through the children’s development and confidence. My daughter is becoming emotionally intelligent and her confidence, as well as her communication skills come on leaps and bounds, and that’s all thanks to the amazing staff team at Dottie’s.

Keri – June 2025

I couldn’t be more happier for my son Arthur to be attending Dottie Tots Nursery. They have always gone beyond expectations and have really been a great help with Arthur and his hearing and speech. They are always quick to talk about any concerns they have about Arthur and do speech and language sessions with him. The forest club is particularly a great place for boys like Arthur who just love the outdoors and it’s so nice that Dottie Tots have the open space for him to explore.

Sophie the manager is specifically a superb Nursery Teacher and I can see why she does the job she does. She’s always organised, goes beyond a managerial role and is super friendly and fun to talk to. We often have a giggle about Arthur and what he gets up too. It’s so nice to have the communication that we do around Arthur as I know he is safe and looked after and enjoying himself. The staff are all very good at talking to me about Arthur and his activities, reassuring me with anything I have concerns about. The parent and child events they put on and all the effort they put in just shows the staff all have a passion for their job and I couldn’t be more delighted to say that Arthur went to Dottie Tots! Dottie tots will be sadly missed when we leave .
